GP Connect: The Information You Need, When You Need It

What is GP Connect?

GP Connect is an NHS service that enables CQC registered adult social care providers to securely view key information from a person's GP record in real time. It helps ensure that you and your team have the vital information you need to support safer, more personalised direct care without relying on phone calls or waiting for email updates from GP practices.

Why it matters:

  • Save time contacting GP surgeries
  • Improve confidence in care decisions
  • Improve confidence in care decisions
  • Support staff at weekends or out-of-hours
  • Enable joined-up care with NHS teams

"We were able to check a resident's allergy history on a Saturday afternoon without needing to wait until Monday. It saved time and gave us peace of mind." - Registered Manager, North West.

What you'll see:

  • Last 3 interactions with professionals at the GP, including any summary information if this has been added to the record.
  • Details of current and previous medications
  • Information on allergies and adverse reactions
  • Active concerns and medical history
  • Immunisation record and test results and referrals (Read only where available)

Here's how to switch it on:

  • 1. Contact your DSCR supplier and ask: "Can you enable GP Connect?"
  • 2. Complete DSPT to standards met
  • 3. Sign the National Data Sharing Agreement
  • 4. Request activation from your DSCR supplier - and go live!
